What’s up young King and young Queen the time is now upon us. It is now time to stand up and take responsibility for everything you do little brother and sister. It is time to embrace your destiny to become the Kings and Queens that you are destined to be. As I sit here writing this message to you I think of countless others who came before me and thought the same thing as me. The strength of our nation is going to be built upon the backs of our youth. You are the foundation for what will be the birth of a new nation. Before I lay forth my plans for you I must first address some issues that we need to clarify before we can proceed so please bare with me. Guidance and direction is necessary for our continued development and survival. So many of my young brother and sisters have seen what crack can do to a family first hand but you turn around and do the exact same thing to the next person’s family. I don’t want to hear that if they didn’t buy it from you that they would get it from someone else. If there was no one to sell it they wouldn’t be able to get it at all. All you are doing when you engage in drug dealing is perpetuating the cycle of destruction. You are contributing to the destruction of your people. We all have witnessed what drugs have done to our communities. There are countless people who are affected when drugs are unleashed into the community. Drugs affect everyone differently but no one is left unscathed from the effects of drugs. There are collateral casualties mounting daily because of drugs and the lack of concern for each other. We can’t allow this to continue, we have to stand up and demand better of ourselves and those that are around us. Only with your aid can we get our community to improve. Young King and Queen you are the building blocks of our new society. You are the one’s who are going to take us into the new millennium. It is through you that we are going to advance into the Age of Aquarius. It is through you we will learn from our past to construct our glorious future. A people that are not familiar with their history are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. In order for you to successfully progress you must first learn where you are coming from. One of my favorite lines in a rap song is “How do I know where I’m going if I don’t know where I’ve been. Understand where I’m coming from”. We are a people with a rich culture and history, it is through our culture that we become the nation that we are destined to be. Learning about your culture young king and queen is much more than learning that the original man and woman come from Africa. Our culture is the blueprint and fabric of our existence. As the writer and educator Jawanza Kunjufu has written” Culture gives you a sense of history, a blueprint for living and direction for the future. Culture is synonymous with lifestyle, values, history, purpose and direction. A people without their culture are a people without a past, present and future”. Young King and Queen we can’t continue to live forgetting about our ancestors and the great things that they have done. We can’t progress as a nation if our culture is based solely on songs that center on drugs, disrespecting our women, destroying our community, forgetting who we are as a people. No we must now become the next generation of great thinkers, future architects, Doctors, Senators, businessmen and women. We must arm ourselves with not guns but ideas, thoughts, vision, and spirituality. As the descendant’s of Kings and Queens we can not continue to act like Court Jesters that is not going to be our future. Young Kings and Queens we can no longer take the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters. It is time now to respect life. We have to stop taking from each other what is not ours to take. Young King and Queen I am not condemning you or talking down to you. I am only trying to offer you a solution. My solution is the foundation and first building block. It is through this building block that we can take control of our own destiny instead of relying on others. Together we can make anything possible. It is through continued unity that our nation could become strong and powerful. I can recall a speaker reciting a scene in the Matrix where Neo and Morpheus are talking and Morpheus has informed Neo of the infinite possibilities that exist within him and the power that he has as the One. Neo replied you mean to tell me that when I am ready and fully trained I can dodge bullets. Morpheus reply to Neo was when you are ready you won’t have to. That’s what I see for you young King and Queen, unlimited potential and unlimited possibilities.
