Where is the Justice for me?
A plea from Troy Davis

Where is the Justice for me? In 1989 I surrendered myself to the police for crimes I knew I was innocent of in an effort to seek justice through the court system in Savannah , Georgia USA . But like so many death penalty cases, that was not my fate and I have been denied justice. During my imprisonment I have lost more than my freedom, I lost my father and my family has suffered terribly, many times being treated as less than human and even as criminals. In the past I have had lawyers who refused my input, and would not represent me in the manner that I wanted to be represented. I have had witnesses against me threatened into making false statements to seal my death sentence and witnesses who wanted to tell the truth were vilified in court.

For the entire two years I was in jail awaiting trial I wore a handmade cross around my neck, it gave me peace and when a news reporter made a statement in the local news, “Cop-killer wears cross to court,” the cross was immediately taken as if I was unworthy to believe in God or him in me. The only time my family was allowed to enter the courtroom on my behalf was during the sentencing phase where my mother and sister had to beg for my life and the prosecutor simply said, “I was only fit for killing.” Where is the Justice for me, when the courts have refused to allow me relief when multiple witnesses have recanted their testimonies that they lied against me?

Because of the Anti-Terrorism Bill, the blatant racism and bias in the U.S. Court System, I remain on death row in spite of a compelling case of my innocence. Finally I have a private law firm trying to help save my life in the court system, but it is like no one wants to admit the system made another grave mistake. Am I to be made an example of to save face? Does anyone care about my family who has been victimized by this death sentence for over 16 years? Does anyone care that my family has the fate of knowing the time and manner by which I may be killed by the state of Georgia ?

I truly understand a life has been lost and I have prayed for that family just as I pray for mine, but I am Innocent and all I ask for is a True Day in a Just Court . If I am so guilty why do the courts deny me that? The truth is that they have no real case; the truth is I am Innocent.

A New Era!

Has the world really changed before our eyes? Have we reached the light at the end of the tunnel? What does all this mean? For years we have had so many people fighting for the rights of not just African Americans, but all Americans. From the likes of Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Medgar Evers, Sojourner Truth, M.L.K, Malcolm X, J.F.K…and more! They have all sacrificed their lives to fight for change. Our lives have been dedicated to building a structure that is extremely firm. We have had paths set and torches handed down to us. On November 4th we decided that we were ready to show our true strength in this country. But it’s not just about us. On Nov.4th the people of the United States decided that they were ready for change. The world also decided that they are ready for change as well. The question I asked myself is why now?
This election was bigger than any other election in history! Sure we have our first African American president but it is bigger than that! All other presidents were elected based on a particular group of Americans voting for their own hidden agenda. Blacks voted for the better of the two in hopes that they would support our communities. Whites voted for who was going to keep them on top. Then we entered into the 2000-2008 era! This is one of the most important eras in our history. The leader of this era had an agenda that was different from any other president’s era. It was an era of “open selfishness and greed”. Now I am sure others have had personal agenda while in office, but what separates them from this era was the fact that it was done openly, publicly, spitefully and without remorse. The main focus was not on the African Americans and the communities they are trying to save, nor was it the Latino communities fighting to be noticed. No help to the Asian communities who have more than proved their knowledge or even the white communities who seemingly had it all and lost it. The 2000-2008 agenda was about self. This was the straw that broke the camels back. The world was and is fed up. We as a people fought years in and out for change and respect. Yet it took the last 8 years to help seal the deal. This is why whenever I am asked about the leader of this ending era, I reply, I LOVE GEORGE BUSH! Never in my 29 years on this earth have I seen people of all color, race and creed stand in UNITY. It was a sight that would make the toughest person break down. I became a proud American all over again. It made me appreciate every drop of negativity that we endured. Our fight was not in vain. Good things come to those who wait, and God saw us waiting and us fighting and has blessed us with a great thing! The walk is not over and the fighting still continues. Mistakes will still be made and voices may still go unheard. For the moment we have hope, a new breath of life and change!

Congrats President Obama!!!! Congrats to you President Obama, You are the new wine chosen by our Creator to be poured into the United States Of America’s new wine skin. You were right to say that it’s not about you. It’s not about you, nor is it about us. It is about the same GOD who heard the cries of his people while they suffered in Egypt under pharoah. It’s about our mothers, fathers, grandmothers, and grandfathers who have been wronged all their lives while remaining gracious and praying for change for us. I am God has now placed the rod of Moses into your hands. You are the present day Moses. Only, don’t smote the rock President Obama. Speak to it. So we no longer have to suffer under this present day pharoah. Egypt was enough. Let us not take a 40 year journey that was only meant for 40 days. President Obama, let us not die in this present day wilderness. But let us march into our present day Canaan Land prepared by Our God. May we all have nothing missing, nothing lost, never lacking and nothing broken. May we all be exceedingly wealthy and rich in all areas of our lives for the rest of our lives. Thank You!
